LONG LIVE THE ROYAL COUPLE!
How any two singles can form a powerful couple, can be seen in hair cosmetics. At the end of the eighties, for instance, the all-in-one products were immensely popular. Shampoo and conditioner in one seemed to be the product of the future. But – as in the case of many historic couples – history has shown that an apparently good ‘marriage’ may well fail eventually. And that is what happened to the all-in-ones. Why? Most active cleaning ingredients have a negative charge, while the nourishing ones have a positive one. These connect with each other, making it impossible to combine cleaning and nourishing effectively. In case of traditional shampoos, about 50-60% of the cleaning and nourishing effect is lost. Manufacturers believed they could circumvent this problem with long silicone chains, but the silicones stacked up, weighed the hair down and formed an impenetrable film around it, causing many hair transformations and colouring to be doomed. All-in-ones seemed unattainable for decades, but all the while, the solution had been around for almost a century. The Dutch Nobel Prize winner Johannes Diderik van der Waals (1837-1923) was well ahead of his time when he discovered the principle that forms the base of Royal Kis. The so-called ‘van der Waals forces’ assume an attractive force between neutral molecules. That is why the innovative formulae of the cleanditioners, for which a patent is pending, work with neutral cleaning ingredients. Keratin and modified poloxamine do not impede each other’s functioning, they even complement each other. These never-before-used combinations create the perfect base. For further treatments, such as colouring and transformation.
